EFFECT OF PROCAINE

Procaine is a lipid-soluble, local anaesthetic (membrane stabiliser). A few drops of 1% procaine were applied to the nerve and the effects observed over a period of six minutes.

  1. Measure the change in the amplitude and conduction velocity of the CNAP after the application of procaine (d = 16 mm).
  2. Explain the different effects of procaine.
