Extrinsic control - Autonomic reflexes

Preganglionic nerves originate in the vasomotor centre of the medulla oblongata. They pass down the spinal cord and most leave from thoracic segments T₁ - T₅ synapsing in the paravertebral ganglion. Postganglionic fibres then innervate vascular smooth cells in all arterioles.
