Extrinsic control - Autonomic reflexes

1. Sympathetic adrenergic vasoconstrictor nerves originate in the vasomotor centre of the medulla oblongata and supply vascular smooth muscle cells in the walls of arterioles in all tissues. They also innervate venules, veins (causing venoconstriction) and precapillary sphincters (closing off capillary beds).
