Haemostatic Plug Formation

Platelets are activated initially by collagen and by small amounts of thrombin formed at the site of injury. This activation is then maintained and amplified by the release of ADP and by oxidation products of arachidonic acid - thromboxane A₂ and prostaglandin PGH₂.
