Haemostatic Plug Formation

Adhesion causes activation of platelets which stimulates platelet aggregation and the formation of a platelet plug. During activation platelets change shape, and they degranulate (release the contents of their granules). Phospholipid (phosphatidylserine) is exposed on the platelet membrane, liberating and oxidising arachidonic acid.
