Oxygen Consumption

The amount of oxygen consumed (VO2) is calculated by multiplying the VE (corrected to STDP) by the difference in oxygen concentration of inspired and expired air.

The maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max or aerobic capacity) is the highest oxygen uptake that a subject is capable of attaining during exhaustive exercise and is a measure of cardiorespiratory fitness.

In this experiment you should measure the maximum VO2 attained by your subject. This is only equivalent to VO2max if VO2 is seen to plateau at the highest workloads.

Measure VO2 at each workload.

Reminder: keep entering the same subject information and print a copy of any charts drawn.
