Information

This series of programs simulate a number of laboratory tests which may be performed on a small sample of blood to determine physiological red cell indices (packed cell volume, red cell count and haemoglobin concentration) and ABO/Rhesus blood groups. These tests are important clinically especially in the diagnosis of conditions such as anaemia.

The principles of each TEST are described in the METHODS section and you may then determine the indices for either a normal male or normal female SUBJECT. You may use the HAEMATOLOGICAL PROFILE to check your calculations for a particular normal subject and a hard-copy of the profile may be obtained.

A number of ABNORMAL CASES are provided where a diagnosis is to be made on the basis of a given abnormal profile. Additional information (clinical data and case history) is provided in order to allow the correct diagnosis to be made.
