To determine ABO blood groups sera containing anti-A, anti-B and a mixture of anti-A and anti-B antibodies (taken from the sera of group O individuals) are each placed on separate slides. One drop of diluted blood is added to each slide in turn, the samples are then mixed and rocked gently for 6 minutes.
In addition, a separate test to identify Rh (D) status is done using anti-Rhesus D antibodies (anti-D). Further clarification of the Rh group is possible with C, c, E, and e antisera.
