Early compared with delayed oral fluids and food after caesarean section
RHL practical aspects by Liabsuetrakul T
FIRST CONTACT (PRIMARY CARE) LEVEL
Since caesarean section is not performed at this level of care the intervention discussed is not applicable.
REFERRAL HOSPITAL (SECONDARY CARE) LEVEL
If there is no strong evidence to recommend either 'early' or 'delayed' initiation of fluids and/or flood. Until further research provides more clear evidence either way, current policies should be applied. If the policy is changed (either way) the patients should be closely monitored to ensure that any unexpected adverse effects are identified in a timely manner.
