Induced abortion

The reviews in this section evaluate clinical methods of induced abortion. One review reports that medical methods for first-trimester abortion are both safe and effective. Another finds that prostaglandins alone seem to be less effective and more painful than surgical abortion. Yet another review suggests that manual vacuum aspiration is preferable to dilatation and curettage.
