Tina Lavender and Rose Mlay

Tina Lavender is Professor of Midwifery and Women’s Health at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston, United Kingdom, and a Consultant Midwife at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital, Liverpool, United Kingdom. She leads a programme of research that is assessing maternal experiences, expectations and outcomes. Her main research focus is on the use of the partogram. She is collaborating with the African Midwives Research Network on a number of projects.

Rose Mlay is the Co-ordinator of the White Ribbon Alliance for safe motherhood in the United Republic of Tanzania. She is one of the founding members of the African Midwives Research Network and has published a number of papers on mobility and maternal position during childbirth.
