Sue Fawcus

Dr Sue Fawcus, MA, MBBS, FRCOG, is a consultant obstetrician trained in the United Kingdom. She is currently working as Senior Obstetrician in charge of a level-2 maternity hospital in Cape Town, South Africa, from where she supervises satellite midwifery obstetric units. From 1980 to 1992, she worked in the Department Obstetrics, University of Zimbabwe Medical School, Harare, Zimbabwe. She has worked as a provincial maternal mortality assessor, perinatal audit coordinator for PMNS, and a provincial coordinator for the Programme on Saving Mothers, the Programme on Saving Babies, and the Better Births Initiative, respectively. Areas of her main research experience include maternal mortality and intrapartum asphyxia.
