Lombaard H, Pattinson R

Dr Hennie Lombaard qualified in 1997 from the University of Pretoria, Pretoria, South Africa. He worked as an intern at Jubilee Hospital and as a Community Medical Officer at Kgapane Hospital. From January 2000 to December 2003, he worked as Registrar in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Pretoria, Pretoria, South Africa. Dr Lombaard is Fellow of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and has an MMed (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) from the University of Pretoria. Dr Lombaard is currently working as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Kalafong Hospital, with special interest in fetal and maternal medicine.

Robert Pattinson is an obstetrician in a regional hospital serving an indigent population on the outskirts of Pretoria, South Africa. Dr Pattinson manages the Maternal and Infant Health Care Strategies Research Unit at the South Africa Medical Research Council, which concentrates on developing effective ways of implanting new health-care strategies as well as improving the quality of care of the systems already in place. He serves on the South African National Committee for the Confidential Enquiries into Maternal Deaths and edits the Saving Mothers reports. He also conducts national perinatal and child health surveys and edits the Saving Babies and Saving Children reports.
