OVERVIEW OF THE MODULE
This module builds on the students’ knowledge on the application of research methods to nursing and midwifery problems, as well as data analysis techniques for qualitative and quantitative data.   Emphasis is also placed on research evaluation and utilization in nursing/midwifery.

 HOW TO USE THIS MODULE
The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge, attitudes and skills for conducting research and data analysis, including utilization of research findings.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
When you have successfully completed this module you will: 
(i)Use a dataset to calculate descriptive statistics
(ii)Know the popular sampling methods
(iii)Use a computer package to do tests of significance
(iv)Use a computer package to do correlation and regression analysis
(v)Know probability distributions and how they apply to inferential statistics
(vi)Be able to analyse contingency tables and interpret cross tabulations
