Overview of the Module
This module focuses on Reproductive Health, HIV and AIDS. The module is designed to assist learners to critically analyze SRH issues surrounding men and women, HIV and AIDS including STI’s. Reproductive Health emphasis is placed on social-cultural, economic, environmental, behavioural and political factors that affect men’s and women’s fertility and reproductive health. The reproductive health topics addressed include: contraception, abortion, reproductive cancers, menopause, sexuality and infertility. It is important to emphasize that the most effective way to have safe sexual reproductive health is through HIV infection prevention and management of AIDS in men and women.

Module Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module learners shall be able to:
a) critically analyze policies and legislation in relation to Reproductive Health, HIV and AIDS;
b) explore strategies which could be used to promote reproductive health and people empowerment within their families and communities;
c) appraise research findings for utilization in reproductive health;
d) discuss concepts used in STIs, HIV and AIDS;
e) evaluate strategies used to manage STIs, HIV and AIDS to influence change;
f) explain concepts used in Gender in relation to STIs, HIV and AIDS
Assessment Criteria
To ensure that you have achieved the learning outcomes you will:
• Analyze policies and legislation in relation to Reproductive Health, HIV and AIDS.
• Explore strategies which could be used to promote reproductive health and empowerment within their families and communities;
• Appraise research findings for utilization in reproductive health;
• critically analyze policies and legislation in relation to HIV and AIDS, adolescents, women’s and men’s health;
• Evaluate reproductive health services and strategies utilised in the country.
• Discuss protocols for the management of HIV and AIDS among different age groups.
• Demonstrate competencies in prevention and management of STIs, HIV and AIDS among different age groups.
• Discuss the impact of HIV and AIDS on communities and the vulnerable groups.
• Discuss monitoring and evaluation framework for Reproductive Health, HIV and AIDS interventions in Malawi.
