MODULE OVERVIEW
This module will provide the learner with the opportunity to develop and synthesise knowledge, skills and appropriate attitudes necessary for HIV prevention, care and support and implementation of policy and strategies of HIV and AIDS. The relation ship between the existing policies, strategies and gender issues for vulnerable groups would also be explored

i. Module description
 This module will provide students with an in -depth understanding on issues of HIV and AIDS in adults. Emphasis will be placed on prevention, comprehensive management of clients with HIV and AIDS by focusing on knowledge attitude and skills

ii. How to use this module
Each unit requires you to:
• Make a field trip to a health facility to observe how health workers manage clients with HIV and AIDS.
• Read all the required and recommended books as these are directly relevant to the achievement of the expected study outcomes.
• The sub-headings are interrelated; as such, ensure that you have mastered the concepts of each unit before moving to the next one.
• Consult widely on each topic including collaboration with colleagues
• Do all activities for each in the order in which they are presented
• Participate actively in class

iii. How the module fits into the programme
The knowledge contained in this module will be applied in the management of clients with HIV and AIDS, so as to prevent transmission of the virus from one client to another as well as to protect yourself from contracting the virus while working in various health settings.

3. Discuss the comprehensive management of clients/ patients infected or affected by HIV and AIDS.

5. Discuss the ethical/legal issues and health care policies relevant to HIV and AIDS
