Community Midwifery Practicum

This unit is designed to develop skills essential for community midwifery so that by the end of the clinical placement the students will be able to work competently within the reproductive health team. The clinical experience enhances health promotion skills upon which community midwifery is built upon.

 
Learning outcomes
• Conduct community assessment environmental, socio-cultural, political and economical determinants of maternal and neonatal health.
• Compile a community profile.
• Mobilize communities to develop strategies for improving maternal and neonatal health.
• Develop appropriate models of care for mothers, neonates and their families in the community.
